Anyone else having Vodafone Sure Signal problems?

[link to this post]

Hi
My Sure Signal unit (v2) has been running smoothly for the last 12 months but For the last day or so i'm not able to receive any incoming calls on both Vodafone mobiles (iphone 4 & 4s) using the Sure Signal...outgoing calls/texts are fine but all incoming calls go to voicemail. Done a hard reset, had my unit re-synced by support, de-registered and re-registered but still having the problem. Please tell me i'm not alone!
Cheers smile

For once I have something that is working. In the past my SS has acted strangely but always seems to sort itself out within a few days.

Sorry for not updating this thread earlier but the following solution worked:

Hi Guys,
We have had a similar issue in the past and it has been caused by a back end server migration.

However as mention if you log into your online account and select manage your Sure Signal, you will need to change the postcode to a different one such as ST1 5GP, leave this for 10 minutes and then change it back to the correct postcode.

Once done you may still need to have your Sure Signal re-synced however, give this a go and if you need it re-syncing let us know the serial number and we can get it done. crazymileywink:

James

If you have any comments regarding how I have handled your query today, please complete our short feedback survey.

I have a phone that works on my ss at home but not one at work. After many many calls to vodafone at my expense, the problem is still not fixed.

Oh dear....it seems there's a major outage with the SS judging by the posts on their forums & twitter. Mine has been down for 48 hrs now. Just the solid red power light, no white lights. Yet their phone support refuse to believe there could be problem at their end. May jump ship to O2 once they release their planned femtocell in the near future.

Fingers crossed mine seems ok, but in the last few weeks have seen periods of no service from it

Thanks Mr Saffron. Can you post the results of a tracert to Vodafone's server @ 212.183.133.177 ? My tracert (and others) hangs up shortly after LDNGW1.arcor-ip.net

I think the trace is OK... 85.205.0.0/16 belongs to Vodafone so that's likely a firewall blocking any further ICMP/traceroute traffic.

Although one of my routes seems to go via Paris then back in to London.

My one at home is working OK and the one in the Office is too.

thanks fellas.... the plot thickens frown

Edit: perhaps they've messed up the fw upgrades on those they've attempted to upgrade? So Mr Saffron/Uno you might have had a lucky escape smile

Over the next six weeks, were installing new software to all Vodafone Sure Signals.

This will occur automatically, at some point between 23:00 at night and 05:00 in the morning, and only take 20 minutes or so.

Once completed, your Sure Signal should reboot automatically and be back to normal before you know it. If for any reason this doesnt happen (youll tell if something has gone wrong as the box will only show one solid light), reset it by switching the box off and on again and youll be up and running in no time.

Which box do you have?

I've got one of the first gen (when they were VAGs) and one of the newer smaller ones.

I've got the smaller v2 box. Apparently the affected units have now started coming online but mine still stuck on solid red light despite numerous attempts to resuscitate it (hard reset). Will give it until Monday, otherwise will be askling for a replacement box. i hate you Vodafone! Grrrrr........

I got sent the smaller one after the original was replaced as it died. Not sure they work as well as the first version - coverage seems lacking compared.

Never used the 1st gen box so can't comment on it but the latest box gives full 3G coverage in every corner of our 4 bedroom house so happy with it...when it works that is!
