For the fixed stuff in your home they have their own spectrum at 3.4GHz but for those buying the mobile dongle add on - not totally sure, think it is three (had guessed at EE earlier)

This was the article I remember reading:
http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2014/06/uk-broa...

Own spectrum at 3.5-3.6 Ghz.

And this one talks about using 'Three' outside of Central London:

So, to give an update...

It has been running really well since install. The hardware supplied is a Huawei LTE CPE B593, which looks quite powerful from the features on its admin page.

Nothing seems blocked or throttled. Relish's online order page indicates I should receive 30mbps-50mpbs, but have personally only managed to peak at about 23mbps (aggregate of parallel downloads) with speedtest web sites ranging from 10-16mbps.

What else would people like to know? smile

Do you get a real IP address?

Has anyone set up the Ping test / broadband quality monitor graphs?

Yes. Although the IP Address that comes up on the router admin page for the Internet interface is different to what appears when running web browser "whats my ip" Google search. Will investigate that further later.

I'm happy to do that. What do I need to do to set this up and share the results?

If you have a static IP address, you can use the TBB service here: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping

If not, you can use something like No IP (http://www.noip.com/) and f8lure: http://fruk.net/index.php?fruk=f8lure

The general gist of these services is that they constantly send pings (tiny, tiny amounts of data) to your broadband connection and measure the response time, and count how many (if any) pings get lost / don't get a reply.

The tests effectively check your connection 86,000 times a day (once per second) and give you a very clear idea of how well your connection is performing. Setting up the test won't have any impact on your connection - although one test a second sounds a lot, the amount of data used is negligible.

eg My Broadband Ping

If I'm not wrong you can connect an external aerial to that Huawei Unit which could increase your throughput. wink

The mobile signal (as reported on the device itself) is full/max. Would external antenna still help?
