Unlikely to make a difference if you already have full signal.

If you have a static IP address, you can use the TBB service here: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping

If not, you can use something like No IP (http://www.noip.com/) and f8lure: http://fruk.net/index.php?fruk=f8lure
Got it working on a Virgin Media connection at another place.

This Relish 4G service seems to explicitly block incoming connections. Tried looking on the router's admin page and turning all firewall features off etc., but still not working.

Not sure how accurate these speed test sites are. Connection seems to be flying right now (double previous days' tests):

It looks like its the WiFi interface on the router that is the bottleneck.

The last speed tests I posted earlier today were over ethernet. On Wifi (same machine/browser), speed tests only manage around 20Mbps, and can consistently replicate to demonstrate the difference.

Wow that's good ! As for the aerial I don't know if it would change a thing since you have the full bars, I was reading a while back that some people using the very same router had a better throughput using an external aerial but probably because they were far away from the 4g mast. Knowing myself I would tweak and check because I don't have a life ! LOL

It's not unusual for Wi-Fi to be the bottleneck.

What speed is the Wi-Fi connecting at?
Does your PC have an 'N' standard Wi-Fi card?

144Mbps

Yep.
Even speed testing on newer devices like iPad Air are achieving ~20Mbps.

Unfortunately, router does not do 802.11a which I think will actually be much better (previous experience with an Asus RT-N66U).

Awful signal and speeds this evening.

Router in same place/position etc. and signal is 1 bar. Speed tests are floating around 4-9Mbps.
