VOIP on Three

[link to this post]

A friend of mine has moved out into the sticks and has dumped the 0.5mbs adsl in favour of using Three mobile bb. Is it possible to use Sipgate VOIP on Three mobile network as he then could get rid of the phone line all together?

Granstream HT801 with my original Panasonic wireless handsets. Setup is very easy using the sipgate instructions. The router is a Huawei B525.

Two, a Cisco SPA112 adapter plugged into router and a phone plugged directly into a B525 with a firmware which included Voip. Both ring with both numbers registered with Sipgate, one of the numbers was ported across from BT so no need to give out new number.

He has a B593s-22 and according to what I have read you need to update to the latest firmware to get it to work, which is currently quite elusive.

Why doesnt he just ditch landline numbers completely. I assume his will change with the move.

I have the Three unlimited SIM only in my phone, and the HomeFi because of cloud-based security cameras. No landline. I ditched that this time last year.

Edit: And unless he has something like the cameras, which I only got later, I just tethered my laptop to the phone.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

If the VoIP can be made to work he will port the phone number to Sipgate
