New mast

The roadworks website tells me Telefonica UK are going to dig a "trial hole for proposed new telecoms mast" around 500 meters away from my location. AFAIK that's O2 and I assume they'll build a 5G mast. If so that should be tall enough for me to have line of sight.

If the neighbours don't moan and it gets built, what sort of options would I have to use it rather than my current 40/12 FTTC connection? The only fly I know about is I have a fixed IP and that's not an option on mobile without much expense.

Will be interesting to see if this now changes post Virgin merger and recent spectrum auction.
