It's still rejected by MalwareBytes.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.

The TLD is "British Indian Ocean Territory". I'll stick with what MalwareBytes says.

Also see this.

Scam Detector ?!

That is much worse than the TLD of .io that you thought was an issue. I would ignore that site entirely.

Many countries sell access to their TLD such as Tuvalu (.tv) and Italy (.it) for use with profitable English speaking websites.

Cheap web hosting always uses obscure domain names as they are cheap!!

It came up as an early option to a search for comments about 42web . io

It did seem a bit weird in the way it went about making its point. Thanks for the advice. There were others that looked to be also critical about the one in question.

I forgot, and you may not notice an edit.

What do you reckon to the site in his sig and the one(s) in the posts? I wonder who his ISP is and what site told him things were fine.

I believe there are more scam psuedo security sites than real sites. Free web hosting is not great but isn't automatically a scam.

Site? as posted previously. ISP is not connected. Whom told him? I assume the free web host.
