BT 2700HGV as bridge for static ip routing

Has anyone managed to have this setup to route a range of static ips to various pcs on a network without NAT?

try this and others in that forum may help.

well in windows dhcp range cant be edited as far as I know.

This is what I have discovered so with thanks to ydrol and me playing with the router.

Have to enable bridge mode and then add the public ip range in the lan config page.

Then under address allocation assign a dhcp ip to the machine, problem here is it only allows me to assign a single ip.

I can then either set the ip statically or enable dhcp on the windows pc either will work, but the advantage of using static I can add the 2nd ip address as well since I want 2 ips on this machine.

Then set dmzplus in the router for the pc.

What happens now is the ip assigned by dhcp is not NAT and works properly, if I have added a 2nd ip manually on the windows box it does work, ie. outbound connections using it use that ip but it is blocked for inbound stuff, no pings etc.

So from what I can see I can have 1 fully routeable ip per device on my lan, additional ips can be added manually but wont be fully routeable.

I badly want to get this working as I want since the router is a jump in stability over my speedtouch routers.

After I get my freebsd box online I will see if I can mess with dhcp on that.

How many network cards does it have ? Can Windows have more than one IP on an interface ?

You don't change dhcp on the client end you do that on the server end (router in this case).

windows can have more then 1 ip per interface, it has 1 network card and my new system to replace it will have 2 nics but I dont want to be using 2 of the ports on one machine.

From what I see the 2700HGV is designed to only support 1 ip per MAC/network device via dhcp. Not using dhcp it wont allow dmzplus mode. So now I am resigned to only having 1 fully routed ip per machine it may be enough for now.

you could always add NICs to get extra MACs on one machine.
