DMZ on a Speedtouch 546v6

Hi. Been having problems since the latest XBox live update with my connection and NAT.

I have set the Public IP address to be directed to the XBox and I understand that this is now "DMZ'ed".

Are there any ramifications for the rest of my network? I have the firewall on and have just port scanned it which showed the network to be secure on all normal ports.

Could somebody explain what I have done my DMZ'ing the XBox please? Thanks a lot...

Exposed it to the outside world.
Think of it as being between your WAN connection (the ADSL port on your router), and your internal network, although your device in the DMZ will have an internal IP address.
The firewall will still continue to protect your other network devices, but it will no longer protect your X-Box.
Any reason why you couldn't just set up port forwarding on the Speedtouch, to direct only the permitted traffic to the X-Box?

For some reason the Xbox was still showing as "Strict" NAT when I port-forwarded the Live ports, which is a no-no for online gaming as it really restricts the people you can connect to.

Now it's DMZ'ed it works fine and is showing "Open" NAT which is what I was after. Surely they can't hack my XBox??!

Anyway the rest is all Mac and tucked up behind two firewalls
