Which Router for Noisy line?

My current ISP is Sky so I have the Netgear DG834GT Router.
I am having problems with a noisy line, its always been like that, even after BT called and fitted the filter faceplate to my NTE5 master socket as well as an RF filter.
I am having constant disconnections with this router. My previous ISp UKFSN I used my own Netgear DG834G Router and I had the same problem with that.
BT said it would not lock on very good and his Bt Modem worked fine.

So is there a Router that runs reliable with a Noisy line??

Is your router connected directly to the filtered face-plate [on the master socket], or via a long extension cable?

Hi... Its on a 15 metre extension (cat5 cable) I tested directly to the master socket and it still drops the connection.

The 15m extension would be better used to connect the RJ45 ethernet port of your computer to the router, and have the router located at the master socket on a short telephone/modem cable.
However, as your router still drops the connection (when connected directly to the master socket), there's little you can do
I assume you've also tried the internal 'test' socket (inside the BT master)? Is it still the same?

You could always sacrifice a bit of speed, by tweaking the noise margin up a few db.
It is possible with Broadcom DSL chipsets (of which, the Netgear DG834GT has one).
If the router cannot hold a stable sync at the current 12db noise margin, you could always try it at 15db.

I just raised the noise margin and I started to get constant cuts again.

Have you tried another router?
If it's currently unable to hold sync at a 15db noise margin, there is something seriously wrong.
You've either got a line fault, a dodgy router, or there is some electrical appliance right next to the 'phone line, that is generating a massive amount of noise.

Have you tried logging the SNR with DMT, to see if there's a pattern, and at what SNR the router drops sync?

I have tested another Router but its the same model with the same results

My Line Attenuation was always high even after BT made their visit, but when they raised the SNR it seemed to cure it with my previous ISP.

Yes.
It makes no difference if a 15db target is self-imposed, or demanded by the DSLAM.

It's DMT - A software package that is compatible with Broadcom chipset routers.
Check it out [url=http://dmt.mhilfe.de/here[/url] (just look for your router/modem and download the correct version of DMT).
It really is very simple to use, and can graph the SNR with a sample rate as low as 2 seconds (which gives a really good idea of what's going on). You can even take a mini-screenshot (from withing the program), to show us what's happening.

I am currently running a "DSL Diagnostic File Generator" for 60 mins at 15 secs intervals.
Does that sound correct?

Port keeps flashing RED, its set to 23.
How do I find out what to set it to?
