Which wireless router?

[link to this post]

I need to buy a wireless router this weekend that I can plug a Speedtouch ADSL green frog in to (it's an oldie I know!). I'll be returning home from uni and need one as all I have is a laptop (iBook) and my mother has a desktop PC.

Are there any you recommend? I'm clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. As long as it's rock solid with security and relatively easy to configure i'll look into getting it. I like Apple's Airport Express, but i've read a few iffy things about it.

Preferably, it'll be on that Scan sell so I can go pick it up on Saturday.

Edit - make it an ADSL modem/router.

Matt.

I spend my nights with a roll of bubblewrap,
Pop pop I hope no one sees me gettin' freaky.
I'm nerdy in the extreme,
I'm whiter than sour cream.

Most of my rivals from school have probably perished in Blair's oil wars.

Don't bother with the Speedtouch modem - just buy your self an ADSL Router (or Modem Router or ADSL Gateway - depends whose you buy)

This will act as a modem and router in one box and will likely cost the same as a router on its own.

Besides, does that modem even have an ethernet connection? If not - you'll never find a router that it can hook up to anyway.

Good point! I don't think it does.

The green frog only has USB and so can't be used with a router. I reckon that the Netgear DG834G et al ADSL Wireless Routers are good value for money (two years warranty too) and are easy to set up. Jut plug it inot your ADSL line (it will auto sense what service it is on), enter your IPOS User Name/Password and Bobs your uncle. One downside is thet the wireless is, by default, switched on without security so securing that would be you next task.

good call on the 834g, wicked routers!

I actually have a Linksys WAG54G which I've had for over three years now I think. I've been over the moon with my router, although I know a few people have had problems with them (firmware issues etc etc)
