Loss of wireless connectivity

[link to this post]

Hi,
I'm running a Netgear DG834G V4 hard wired to a PC with 2 laptops and another PC connected wirelessly.

About 2 days ago, one of the laptops started reported 'little or no connectivity' and wouldn't connect to the Internet. I tried rebooting the router, the laptop and the PC but without any change. I also disabled the firewall on both machines and checked that DCHP was running but no joy. I checked all the router settings through its gui but couldn't see anything wrong either. At this point the other laptop and PC were connecting ok. I

In order to get the errant laptop connecting again, I maually input IP and DNS server addresses and hey presto, back in business ! Shortly afterwards however both the other laptop and the PC failed to connect with 'little or no connectivity' reported. I've manually input the data for these two also so all seems ok at the minute but I'm as to a loss as to what happened.

Any idea's please ?

Ta

Ron

Have you tried changing the wireless channel on the router? Perhaps neighbours are transmitting on that channel now and creating interference.

Well I did change from channel 11 to channel 6 some time ago because of interference
and its been stable ever since but its certainly something worth considering.

Cheers

Ron

Use something like net stumbler to find out what is in use around you and then swap to one that is not being used.
