Wifi Adapter suggestions

Hi

I am currently using the Bt Home-hub 2.0 version B and a wireless G pci network card for my pc and have found that my wireless G is being bogged down during gaming causing Lag and i need better range

can anybody recommend a wireless N pci card to use with my Home-hub to get the best results for gaming and general downloading and surfing

If you are wanting to use it for gaming you could use a wireless ethernet bridge and connect to that over a cat5 cable, thereby offloading the handling of the wireless signal and encryption from your system.

These are often referred to as gaming adaptors.

Or you could run a cat5 cable to your router for even better performance, but I assume this isn't an option else you wouldn't be asking about wireless adaptors.

Hi if i get a wireless N router which is capable of bridge and plug the Ethernet from the bridge into my computer will i have any effect on performance because im considering a normal wireless N adapter which could be cheaper or is the performance worth paying for

Personally, I wouldn't use any wireless for gaming. They'll all add 5-10ms+ to response times.

I would but wireless is by only option because of house design so wireless n would be the best option I think or a wifi bridge

Why is powerline (as suggested) not an option?

I looked into power line but i hear it has some issues on surge protectors and extension cords and i have no sockets in range available (can someone clarify if i t can run through extensions)

i will get one if it works in my situation but am considering

Try the simple solutions first. Beg, steel or borow D-Link G122 adaptor which comes with a USB cradle on a ~1m of cable. That will alow you put it where you can get better signal, even half an inch can make difference. Hint: 5ft high often works best.
You can even extend the cable up to 5m in lenght.

They are just a few ponds on eBay, I think I have four of them...
