Voyager 1055 wireless stopped working Win 7 64-bit

OK, I know Windows 7 64-bit isn't properly supported by this daptor but I've been using the Vista drivers by installing it in compatibility mode for Vista SP2 and it's been working flawlessly for three months without a single hitch.

Suddenly this morning - disconnected whilst flying over Dustwallow Marsh with my Death Knight in World of Warcraft. Got the yellow ! over the wireless signal indicator in the notification area. I wait a while. Connection returns. Then disappears again. Returns again. Then disappears again.

Here's the odd thing - the adapter seems to be working since it's detecting my Home Hub, and the Home Hub is fine since it connects fine via ethernet from downstairs (just as a test - don't want my computer in the hallway). The notification icon returns to normal after a few minutes and says "Internet active" (or words to that effect - can't remember exactly), without an actual connection.

Does anyone have any ideas? Would a wireless adapter just stop working overnight? The only other thing I can think of is that a recent Windows Update is conflicting with it. But then again if it wasn't working it wouldn't detect the hub would it? Am I going to have to fork out some cash for a compatible adaptor? Wired isn't an option - the internal wiring in our house is so bad I go from 3.4Mb with wireless to around 0.8Mb when wired.

My poor Death Knight is now hovering on an agitated gryphon over the Wyrmbog. Poor bird doesn't like dragons and I'm afriad she'll get spooked waiting for my connection to return and just dump me off near Musprocket, and I'm allergic to Goblins and small outposts with naff quests.

I find USB devices work fine for some time, then stop and using a different USB socket resolves things....
