Want to convert FSD8636-4 V2 to an access point

I have spent the last few hours, including a web chat with a belkin support person, trying to achieve this; what I thought to be , simple task.

I have managed to connect the 'access point router' to my PC and disabled DHCP., which I understand I should do.
I really am stuck and would love a step by step guide.

The rep from belkin said there was actually an option within the wireless setting to enable the device as an access point, couldn't find this.
But I am led to believe this is achievable.....

Is a guide for two different devices, but the principles still hold the same.

Once you have disabled DHCP, you should also assign the LAN interface an IP address that doesn't conflict with your scheme, so you can still access the management funtions. It should be within the same subnet, but outside of any DHCP range.

Connect to your network via one of the LAN interfaces (the WAN interface doesn't need to be used).

Got it to work....I have kept the router- access point SSID different ( hope that's ok) and whenever i connect my ipad to the original router , the access point dissapears. If i reset my network settings on the ipad, it comes back again.....any ideas ? And hopefully something i can do about this.

Try setting the same SSID and Password on both the router and AP, but use different channels for each.

The original SSID I had was "wireless access point" with spaces.....not sure if this caused the problem, but now I have used a SSID name without spaces, it works perfectly.

I did chose a different channel already.

So all ok.

Was surprisingly simple to do, once you know how LOL
