The question I have is that, I�m stuck in connecting to the internet and wiring my printer.
My current setup is 1 HH5 downstairs and along with BT Mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 600 Multi Kit + 1 extra wireless hotspot.
Connected in the master socket, the HH5 sits in the cupboard in the middle of the house. I have my powerline extender plugged next to it.
1st hotspot is in the 1st floor, towards the front if the house as the signal was a bit weak there.
2nd hotspot is on the 2nd floor towards the back of the house where my printer is connected.
3rd is in the annex.
They all work fine but the speeds are slow on wireless and I have a lot of drop outs. It�s a large house.
The house is network cables running in it. I have my network cables plugged into a Netgear GS116. The annex and 2nd floor aren�t networked, so I will still have to run a powerline extender. I�m planning to change the BT powerline extenders to TP-LINK TL-PA8010P. It�s a twin pack. They are non-Wi-Fi and I was hoping to plug them into an access point on the other end.
I have a HG612 which I plan to unlock and I have 3 HH5 altogether.
In the living room I plan to run a HH5 as an access point as I have a network point. Here I will connect the TV, PS4 and Sky box through network cable to the HH5. This should be providing the enough Wi-Fi coverage for that side of the house.
In the annex I plan to run a HH5 as an access point connected through the powerline adaopter, where I will connect the TV, Desktop computer and Sky box through network cable in the HH5. This should be providing the Wi-Fi coverage for the annex.
The question I have is that, I�m stuck in connecting to the internet and wiring my printer.
Do I connect HG612 and a HH5, with Wi-Fi disabled and plug a network cable to the Netgear Switch and one plugged to the powerline adapter? My thinking being that too many Wi-Fi routers will cause interference even if they are on separate channels.
Or
Connect the unlocked HG612 as a 2 port modem router? Connect both ports into the switch. Not sure if that is possible, but I am looking into it?
Or
Getting a billion 8800nl? And connecting a network cable to the Netgear Switch and one plugged to the powerline adapter.
And when it comes to the printer, I�m not sure if I should buy a range extender with a single port like the Netgear WN3000RP
Or
Getting a 3rd powerline extenders TP-LINK TL-PA8010P and connecting it through that. The only downside I hear is that adding another powerline reduces the bandwidth.

Does the printers Wi-FI support 5GHz? For wireless the more you can do in the 5GHz band the better.
More use of dual band, and ethernet where at all possible. Does the printer have no Ethernet socket on it?
Adding more power line adapters should not unduly affect throughput, as they should manage speeds above what VDSL2 can create, but never played with the BT or TP-Link ones, I'd generally recommend Devolo HomePlug kit its not the cheapest but generally works well.

Not sure if that is possible, but I am looking into it?" two ethernet connections from the HG612 to a switch will be no better than one, and may cause more problems, hoping you meant 1 ethernet cable to switch A and another cable to switch B which makes sense, just be sure to avoid creating a loop in the ethernet network.

Is there no way you can run cables around the house to where the APs need to be?
I find Homeplugs in my home, even the £100 ones, have a throughput which varies wildly between 90Mbps and 5Mbps, they drop out & anything such as Apple TV or screen mirroring is laggy when going via the homeplug.
If you are going to spend money on this, I would say do it right and get ethernet ran.
E.g. you may not be able to get a wire to the Annex, but somewhere close enough to the annex may work fine. That's just one example.
I would try every possible way imaginable to get the APs hard wired into one another, longer term it will serve you justice.
EDIT: also make sure every AP is dual band. Ideally wireless AC.

Printer is Xerox Machine with a ethernet port.

I can upgrade the equipment to have a better and stable connection.

Each network point has 2 cables running to it. 2 port sockets on the faceplate and all cables run to the cupboard. 14 cables in total run back to the cupboard. i hope it makes sense.

Not being able to connect to the net while wifi is still connected.
Cant even log into the HH5 at that point. Happen a lot, some good days and like today every 10 mins. Driving me mad.

That's a known issue on a HH5. Is your HH5 in a cupboard? That wouldn't help.
One fix is to split the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and to set the 2.4GHz to a known channel.
Is your HH5 a Type A or Type B? (It says on the label on the bottom and on the power supply)

If you have WiFi then connected to the HomeHub in some shape or form, unless you are talking about wifi from another access point.
The Home Hubs seem to go awol sometimes when are errors on the DSL side, so it may be that
1. Testing with some local pings running
2. Seeing how a device on ethernet handles things during this bad time
3. Consider a different modem/router that may be more reliable than the HomeHub

Do you get drop outs when using just the HH5, nothing else? That will rule out the connection / homehub 5 itself being the issue.
You will obviously have reduced range whilst you test and turn off all the various boosters.
Also looking at those diagrams I am surprised the router does not get from the main BT master to the annex. There is only 2 or 3 walls in the way. My hub 5 worked fine through 4 thick walls.
Are these crazy thick stone walls?
There are so many network points around the house, one on the 1st floor, at the bottom left hand side, if you had an AP here, are you sure it would not reach the annex? Going by the floor plans there would be only one wall below it, into the annex.
I feel there is probably substantial network points to get wireless setup ok around this property, with wired connections.

I have got a lot more walls in the way than you, yet I still get reception in the dining room - albeit 1 bar.
The range of your device does not seem right to me. I am tipping either faulty router or that cupboard is made of something such as steel or concrete.
Hows the coverage if you pull the router out of the cupboard?

At 11.27 the internet wasn't working.

No sign of any DSL issues, but a block of devices disconnected, so unless you did something while logged into the web admin interface, the suggestion is that a burst of noise affected Wi-Fi reception.
Are all the devices on 2.4 GHz, if so try to force as many as possible to use 5GHz only.

It looks like a tonne of devices are dropping out all at once. Either local wireless interference, or the booster or homeplug is entirely losing connection to the main homehub (very likely).
If you still see wireless connected during these dropouts, it means the device, such as the homeplug is fully dropping connection to the main hub. Hence why we see in the logs all the devices dropping at once.
Are all these devices going through one homeplug or one wifi repeater in particular?

Do you have 3 different wifi repeaters, all BT branded by the looks of it?
Are they connecting over wireless or powerline?
There is evidence of the "BT Mini WiFi Home Hotspots" disconnecting. I am keen to figure out if they're dropping over wireless or powerline?
Also, it is very possible you have a scenario where the hotspots are connecting to one another, not all directly to the router, in this case if one dropped, the other would also drop. IE It could go router - hotspot 1 - hotspot 2. So if hotspot 1 drops, hotspot 2 also loses that connection. With hotspots they will just go into the SSID name, so this happens easily.
EDIT: Here is how I would personally lie the network out.
I am totally against any kind of wireless device being used to "boost" the signal or using powerline. My experience with both has been awful. I am a firm believer in getting the connection to each access point perfect, so the underlying network is right, so that means hard wiring every AP. Then we can deal with the client side of things. I have suggested Linksys WUMC710 as I use it, and I can leave it on for 30 days running without any issues. Also over AC wireless it pulls speeds of 90Mbps+.

You can easily set this up now, that is get the homehubs going, (as you have 3 HHs) and roam the house with a phone, checking if you have reception all over.
If you do, you can go out and buy something like the Linksys WUMC710.

Hi guys.
Been researching what to replace the lovely BT equipment.
What you guys think about the following:
Draytek 130 Modem.
Into a router. Not sure which one. Need some help here.
Then are you meant to use a security gate way? I'm not sure.
Then into a switch for. I have 14 cables to plug in. I have Netgear Pro safe Gs116 16 Port Gigabit Switch. Is this good enough or it has to be upgraded.
And finally Ubiquiti Unifi UAP AC LITE. 5 pack. Im hoping this will fix my internet drop out issues.
And this for my Xerox upstairs. Wireless Wifi Bridge Dongle
