IPv6 Assistance.

Hi guys,

On my Draytek 2862 i think i have set up the ipv6 in the way my ISP has suggested stateful (auto-config) and as far as im aware it is all running.

However, i am a bit confused, as yesterday when i initially set it up, i had a few entries in my DHCPv6 lease table, and also some in my neighbour table but i have now noticed that the DHCP table keeps emptying.

Is that correct?

Also getting a lot of 'failed' in the ipv6 neighbour table mac addresses column.

I am also thinking to setup Ipv6. Could someone please assist me with the procedure?

IPv6 devices often do not use DHCPv6 to obtain IP addresses, they use stateless configuration and the last 64bits of the IP address are typically made up from the devices MAC address, the device checks with neighbours to make sure it is unique before using it. These types of devices will appear in the neighbour discover list, but not in the DHCPv6 table.

So quite normal for DHCPv6 not to be handing out ip addresses.

Not sure what the failed entries mean, unless it is devices just gone offline and they can't be looked up.
