What a day

[link to this post]

I thought i would sort out the network and see what was on it, I had things popping up and no idea what they were. Got it sorted now, but took a good 4 hours to find out what everything was. The two I could not find was HANGZHOU AIXIANGJI TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD, turned out it was my LED strips Wi-fi.
I have now put everything in static i.P addressees on the router, so hopefully they will stay put.
My switch bot hub doesn't show up on the router and yet it is working, that is strange as well.
I used a bit of software called advance IP scanner to see if it could find out what is what, when I turned everything off around the house, apart from the router and computer, still found things that were on the network and not connected, I don't get it, surly a I.P scanner should only scan for devices that are on the network, not that have been on the network.

Oh well, at least the devices I can see are now names on the router.
Hopefully when I have my next week off in February, I will not be unwell, so I can move the network to somewhere better and out of sight.

just shows how much can be on your network and you never give it a thought.

oh yeah, another thing, I went up to a mate's place on Thursday and his Sky Q did not show on his BT hub, which is very strange again.

Ite depends on the scanner software being used. A Sky Q box does not respond to pings, but will respond where the scanner does a port scan for open ports as well, rather than just a ping. Unmanaged ot passive switches do not normally have an IP so you won't see them either.

I personally use Advanced Port Scanner work's well and doesn't hide anything. Or at least it doesn't on my network.
Slightly different use case for me, kinda like to try and close unnecessary ports so I do monthly scans

Many Thanks,
