Recommended Ethernet installers nr Milton Keynes?

[link to this post]

Hi,

Disappointing Powerline networking in my home means it's time to do a Proper Job and get some Ethernet cabling installed.
I don't mind too much if the cabling goes mostly around the outside of the house, as long as it's neat and tidy in the kitchen and two bedrooms where I'd like the sockets installed, but all-internal would be nicer, obviously!

And it's coming out of my pocket so it can't cost too much wink

Any recommendations?
And any hints on the price I should be looking at?

(The house is a small-ish 4 bed detached)

You know the truism about good // cheap // fast ? smile

Anyhow for a few data points, most of the dedicated data installers won’t be terribly interested or will put up their prices for the bother. You could get a local electrician to help you rough-in the cabling and install back boxes, do any chasing etc and then do the terminations yourself.

It’s fairly straightforward with a bit of practice and you can get modular pair-polarity testers for a few squid from Amazon. You really only need to have a cable stripper or sharp Stanley knife and a 110 style punch down tool - if your going from patch panel or socket to socket - the correct method for fixed building cabling. A tote box (305m) of decent Cat5e or Cat 6/6a solid core UTP cable shouldn’t bust the bank.

Hi,

I'm in the area and install cabling.
How many cables are you looking to run?

Thanks Dan
