4th Utility fibre cable

[link to this post]

Hello,

I recently signed up for the 4th Utility fiber service. The cable that came with their Dasan router is really short, only 1 meter long. I want to move the router to my living room, so I need a longer cable. I don't know much about fiber cables, so can you please tell me what kind of fiber cable I should get? I looked on Amazon, but I couldn't find the fiber cable specifications on the box.

Dasan fibre cable specification:

Description: OS2 P/L G.657.B3 SCA-SCA 2.8mm SX White 1 m

Thank you

I suggest that you search for 'OS2 fibre cables' then phone the suppliers, explain what you have and ask if they can supply a similar longer cable.

Is it connectorized at both ends? This is a 3m version of what is described there - I am making the assumption that "SCA" means SC connector, angled.

Don't they have a separate ONT and router, is it all built into the router?
Just getting confused because if it is a normal router it can be moved anywhere with an ethernet cable.

Some AltNets provide an all in one ONT/router device. Slightly dangerous as the fibre cable isn't fixed to the wall and runs the risk of breaking if moved a lot. The wall mounted ONT method used by the majority of AltNets and Openreach is (in my mind) better for long term reliability.

I thought it would be better fixed to the wall, very easy to damage the Fibre.
