route-a -wireless help needed

Hi i have a adsl line, ive been using a dynamode ethernet router, and its been working fine. detalils of my router can be found here http://www.dynamode.net/ADSL/R-ADSL-C1.htm

I have also now bought a TP-link wireless router (with no modem built in).

how can i connect these together to have my internet account shared wirelessly

obviously i already have wireless cards in all the needed pc's.

i have been told that i need to turn off the router part of the dynamode (im assuming that just means jurning off NAT?)

however when i try to connect the tp-link to the dynaling using pppoe, nothing happends. If however i get the tplink to connect via dynamic ip, it will at least "see" the dynalink, but wont share internet. i have been told by tp-link that i do need to use pppoe, but they wernt very specific about HOW i actually do this.

leave the dyamode as it is - I assume it is providing DHCP for the Lan side.....

1. Make sure that the Dynamode Internal IP range is NOT the same as the TP-Link internal IP range by default (with luck one will be 10.x.y.z the other 192.168.x.y). Adjust them if necessary - only one needs to be different

2. connect the TP-Link WAN port to the Dynamode with a bit of ethernet cable - it will sort out the crossover (or it should). this gives the WAN port of the TP_Link a valid IP address as far as the Dynamode is concerned.

3. Connect to the LAN side of the TP_Link with a cable and sort out WPA security for the wireless. Note that the wireless network on the TP-Link must also have a different network number to either of the other two interfaces.

4. Try connecting wireless to the TP link, then try connecting to the internet. It should just work.

You don't need PPPoE between your two routers - that is the ADSL side of things which you can safely ignore. If you are using static IPs however you will most likely have to put the Dynamode into Bridge mode to make things work properly...

thanks for replying, but ive already tried that. yes all my ip and subnets are differnt for the dynalink and the tp-link devices. at the momment im using dhcp so the ip address are being automaticly assigned. still no internet access. the Wlan (act) light on the tplink is constantly flashing (instead of being a solid light).

i can see that if i connect them together as you suggest i can see that the ddynalink has indeed given the tplink an ip address, which the tplink is happy to use, but nothing further as regards internet access.

im confused, however as i said when i emailed tp-link, they replied that i needed to use pppoe. i dunno im not a network specialist, however i have set up quite a few networks in my time, (just never had much to do with routers - hubs yes - routers no)

is it possible that i need to set up in one of the routers (cos there both routers)
a route table?

if so how do i do that?

the default gateway of the tplink sjhould be its WAN interface.... you may have an issue with the cable connecting the two devices.... but if tplink say you need PPPoE on the WAN port then you have a problem - your dynalink will not do that on its LAN side - the WAN port will be (in that case) designed to connect to an ADSL provider such as Telewest/NTL who supply an ethernet connection from their cable box, or AOL who use PPPoE rather than PPPoA (IIRC that is - I am quite willing to sit corrected on that point)
It sounds like you need a wireless AP rather than a router, which woul dmake things a bit simpler. Un fortunately they cost about the same as a router (for some reason)

Disable NAT and DHCP on the wireless router and give it an IP address in the same range as the Dynamode router. Then connect it to the Dynamode router using one of the LAN ports rather than the WAN port. This will basically convert the TP-Link wireless router into an access point.

many thanks Pandemonium, that worked great. no hassle solution, thats what i like to see. internet whereever i need it now, and to boot it also enables me to see network shares over the wireless network as well. (though i couldnt find a way of turning off nat on the tp-link, think it must only do nat for anything connected to the WAN conector)
