802.11a Access Point

[link to this post]

I'm looking for an 802.11a access point in order to move my wireless out of the increasingly congested (at least at my house) 2.4Ghz range.

They seem very few and far between these days but I am looking at the Netgear WAG102 as being ok for what I need.

There are only a handful of places that sell them. One of them is broadbandbuyer.co.uk but I have never bought anything from this company. Are they any good for supplying kit? Has anyone got experience of buying stuff from them?

Thanks.

no experience with broadbandbuyer, however they do sell them at ebuyer - which I have used many times before.

OK thanks. I have heard some bad things about ebuyer but may give them a go if others have had good experience.

I normally use novatech as I only live a short drive from them but they don't do any 802.11a access points...

to be honest, I've heard some bad stuff about them - but I've been using them for years now, and spent in excess of 5k easily, and not had a single issue.

Postage is a bit erratic though - normally turning up earlier than expected (not a problem for me, but could be an issue for some people)

postage is one of the biggest issues. Do you know who they use? I'm at work during the day and some of the stuff ends up going miles away and can be a pain to pick up.

After the first delivery, which must be to the Credit/Debit card address, you can pick your delivery address.

I normally choose standard delivery, which for as long as I can remmeber has been dealt with by City Link.

Hi, Broadbandbuyer are one of the best suppliers out there, they used 'Initial City Link' when they delivered to me. http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/
