Easiest and Cheapest way to extend DG834GT

[link to this post]

Hi...

I have one of those V1 routers from Sky (the white DG834GT).

I have connected:

PC
X BOX
External H/D (For files etc)

and a laptop connected wirelessly.

This leaves one port spare, which is soon to be taken up with another PC which will be linked direct to the TV using Windows Media Centre.

That will fill the available ports.

Now, being very risky, none of my devices are backed up at all. And want to add an additional External H/D which will be large enough to back up the PC/Laptop/Media Centre.

I am assuming the best way would be to use a Hub in one of the ports??? to extend the router to have than 4

or does that sound to easy

An Ethernet switch sounds the best bet.

I'd suggest getting a GigaBit switch to future proof yourself, and thus your NAS (network storage) can utilise this.

cheers mate.

done a bit more research.

Seems it is as simple as that.

must be my confidence in all things PC related in that nothing I attempt to do is as easy as that. Well their must be a first time for everything (I say trying not to tempt fate)
