Dual Wi-Fi nets

[link to this post]

Hi, I wonder if I can glean some expert advice here, regarding my Wi-Fi network(s)
The phone line enters the house at the front on the first floor, short cable to the modem/router, a Netgear DG834Gv4, I then have a Cat5 cable to an access point, a Netgear WG602v4, mounted in the centre of the house in the hallway, this enable me to use a laptop and smart-phone upstairs in the “office” or downstairs in the lounge etc. I have set these up as two separate networks SSID Alpha and Beta and this seems to work ok, each device logs on to a network, usually the closest.
So far so good but I keep wondering if this is the best arrangement, would it be preferable to use some other arrangement? The neighbourhood is getting pretty crowded now and I’m using two channels, is there a better way of doing this?
Regard
Geoff

Dunno, what would I gain? The mains thing would be instead of the Cat5, I would still have the two Wi-Fi nets??

Why not give them the same SSID?

Praps my OP was unclear. I'm wondering whether it would be possible/desirable to combine the two wireless nets into one, on one channel. I dunno, tis all double geek to me frown

Yes, you can give them the same SSID. You can use the same or different channels.

Thass sorta what I'm asking. If I used the same SSID and the same channel what would happen? Seem a bit fraught???

It would work, like it does in various hotels and coffee shops around the world.
