Sync speed with Belkin F5D7633-4Av1 dropped - log query

[link to this post]

I've a Belkin F5D7633-4Av1 and have noticed that my sync has dropped from 8128 to around 6500. This happened around 4 months ago and it's finally bugging me enough to want to do something about it.

I've checked that it's not my internal wiring by plugging directly into the master socket. There was no real increase in sync speed.

I'd like to know a) how to enable the log, b) which settings to set and c) how to then view those results.

Can anyone help.

Thanks,

Si.

I don't know about the log but if you post your stats (attenuations, SNR margins, sync rates) it may indicate a problem. See http://www.dslzoneuk.net/adsl_line_stats.php or http://kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

Do you have a different router that you can try? I have very little faith in the Belkin F5D units although in a very few cases, a change of PSU seemed to do the trick.

That's just it, stats are great.

Data rate: 6592/448
Noise: 5.8/22.00
Power: 19.7/11.8
Attenuation: 23.0/14.0

Just can't work out why I used to always get 8128.

Was just hoping that the logs would reveal more - reconnects etc.

The 12v or whatever it is "transformer" that powers the unit. Try a substitute but it needs to be the same voltage, same polarity and equal or better current capacity. Of course, the DC plug will also need to match! wink

LOL, yes, I know what a PSU is, but I was more interested in anecdotal evidence of the difference changing one made to a Belkin that was performing poorly.

Google is almost certainly your friend but it would be probably quicker to substitute and see.

I recently had to change the router at my mums house. She was on Sky previously, so had to go to PC World and the Belkin router was the best of a bad bunch.

She had 8128 sync for 3-4 years, no deviation from that with the Sky router (Netgear). After changing it over to the Belkin, SNR was notched up by BT to 9db, then 12 which lowered sync down to 6800~.

After replacing that with something slightly better, SNR was reset and line has now remained at 8128 again for just over a month.

Belkin routers can perform awfully bad on some lines.
