speedtouch 330 help

[link to this post]

Hi there, hope someone can help me out here.

http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/o2/3310054-fyi-spee... >>>> I have followed these instructions to use the speedtouch as a back up, and it works great.

What I would like to know if anyone can help me , is how would I go about connecting up another speedtouch modem ? I tried to plug in another one and although it connects, it wont connect to the internet, even though it is showing as working.

The first one connects to local area connection 3, however when I connect the second one(unpluging the first one) it shows up as local area connection 4. (do not know if that has something to do with it)

I would like to switch between my main router (o2) my speedtouch(one that works) and this second speedtouch I have acquired.

Any help would be greatfully received

Thanks for reading

not sure why you would bother with such obsolete stuff, but you won't be able to run more than one DSL device on a line at one time.

I wouldn't expect to be able to run more than one Speedtouch modem at once with windows, either, so a reboot after unplugging one might be required before the alternative one will be loaded correctly.

Hi thanks for the quick response. Not looking to have more than one connection at any given time. Just one at a time.
Tried to plug in the second one while the machine was off, however it keeps giving me limited connectivity, although it shows that there is a line rate, and the connection is good.

do you have to change the settings for the modem that the dialup connection where you enter your particulars refers to ?

also is this bit relevant :-

(2) IF PLANNING TO TRY IT OUT NOW...
Turn off your o2 box asap as you want its Dynamic IP DHCP lease to expire ASAP. You won't be able to get online with the ST330 until the period of that lease has elapsed, something in region of 20-40 mins maximum.
