Newbie Router question

[link to this post]

Hi Guys -

I currently use a Netgear Rangemax WPN824v2 router along with a Prestige 600 modem.

I have recently been experiencing bad connections where the internet will just turn off - so I purchased an all-in-one router / modem setup (Netgear DG834G).

That arrived today but on looking at each box, it looks like my original Netgear is more powerful with better range and less dropouts?

I haven't tested the new one yet - but wonder if it's even worth trying or whether I should just send it back for a refund!

Thanks!

You replaced a RangeMax (10 x G) router by just a G modem/router. You should have gne for the equivalent RangeMax DG834PN modem/router.

You don't say where the drop outs occur. Does the ADSL (modem) drop or does a wireless link stop working?
