Netgear WG602 Wireless Acccess Point

[link to this post]

I have the above WAP connected to Ethernet port 1 of my ST585. Looking at the Home Network configuration on the router I can see the WAP connected, it shows the Physical Address as the MAC correctly, the IP Address Assignment as Static and an IP Address. If I enter that IP Address into my browser, it brings up the router Administrator window not the WAP.

Is it possible to access the WAP configuration through the router please?

Andrew

It is not unusual for a WAP to not use an IP address, but just exist as an Ethernet to wireless converter with no IP interface in the range handed out by the NAT router on the network. You need to check the documentation of the WAP to see its factory settings are - best way I've found is to set this to a static in my LAN range when setting them up, and stick a sticker underneath the device so I don't forget a year later when rejigging things.

Thanks Andrew, I think I understand! The other option I have, I assume, would be to connect the WAP directly to my PC via Ethernet as all I want to do is change the channel frequency.

Is the PC wired or wireless?

Do the router and the wap have the same IP address?

Yes. As I said, entering the WAP IP Address brings up the router Administrator

Sorry, I'm confused. Do they have the SAME ip address or DIFFERENT ip addresses?

Sorry, they are different. The IPA I normally enter to access the router is 192.***.*.***
The WAP is 212.**.**.*** Both take me to me to the router Admin page

The WAP ip address doesn't appear to be on the same network. Looks like your network settings are wrong.
