Wireless backward compatible?

I may be switching to BT Infinity, with a Home Hub provided with -N standard wireless.

Does this mean new wireless adapters all round as some PCs here are back on first generation adapters? Not worried about the speed on those PCs, just need to know if I have to replace the apapters.

fully backwards compatible, as long as you leave it run mode b and g or what ever you need.

I only have a b/g router and I set the mode to G only as it improves performance

You should get 54Mbs transfer from the router to the older cards but I found that the actual download speed increased too - probably due to better strength of the signal. But why not spend a few quid on an N wireless USB dongle? You'll get transfer of 150Mbs plus and a much firmer signal.

I use Belkins on two of my lappies. You need to install drivers from a CD but they work really well when linked to my N router. I disabled my wireless card that came with the computers when I installed the dongles to avoid conflicts. Remember that everything on your network needs to be N compliant.
