Dynamode Router Problem

[link to this post]

I have a Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-W-G1 that has been in use perfectly for 3+ years but has always been left switched on.

However, when I went on Holiday for 2-weeks, I decided to switch it off. On my return, although the Router works fine, when attempring to access the Set Up pages to look at stats etc on 10.0.0.2 it prompts me for a User Name and Password which previously were completed automatically.

Inputting 'admin' and 'password' (the default settings), I now get an error 401 Unauthorized message.

Absolutely nothing has been changed except for switching the power off. I looked hard for a reset button/hole in the case, but can't spot one to attempt a Reset.

Any clues out there???

With the Router powered up,
Hold down the "Reset" button on the underside of the router,
HOLD IT for 10 seconds, then release.
All the L.E.Ds should go OFF, then come back ON.
When the INTERNET light is ON and SOLID, then the Router is Ready for use.

You made need a pin or a paperclip to access the button.

Managed to find the Reset hole myself (looks like another ventilation hole on the underside, but not symmetrically placed). Did the Reset (twice), but still no access to the set up screen

If I hover over the Dynamode Icon in my Favourites, it says 'Dynamode Router 401 Unauthorized http://10.0.0.2/'. Can't access by putting the IP address in direcctly nor by using Firefox rather than IE8.

Driving me nuts now...

does 10.0.0.2 bring up page not found? or prompt for username?

if not found what does 192.168.1.1 bring up?

10.0.0.2 invites user name and password; username is 'accepted' as 'admin' (but so does anything else), whereas password 'password' is not accepted and loops on the log-in screen for it to be input successfully. Pressing Cancel results in the 401 error that I see.

192.168.1.1 results in 'Page not found', so I guess the Router does not use this reserved IP address as do other Routers.

If it is relevant, BT advised a change to upgrade my connection to ADSL2+ (from max) whilst I was on holiday.

Something has now changed, as my connection speed has gone up from a measley 1.5Mbps to 2.1Mbps. Still not good, but am 3.5km from the Exchange.

BTW, all my wireless connected PC's (3) and my main PC, connected to the Router by Ethernet, access all Internet sites and e-mail without any problem.

Damned if I know what's going on.

Thank's for your time.

Nope, conexant doesn't work either (don't know if this Router has this chipset).

I see on Google mine is a fairly common problem (not specific to this make of Router), but no-one seems to have a solution apart from a Hardware Reset, which didn't work for me.

the only other common username/pass for this is Admin/Admin (note caps A)

when you reset the router, did you 'hard reset' hold reset for 10 seconds, until the lights all flash?
'cause I doubt the router would connect to bt business without login credentials which should also be wiped in hard reset.

Did all that & no joy.

Solved my problem by chucking the Dynamode Router in the bin and buying a new Netgear DGN1000 Wireless ADSL Router.

Drastic, but the grief my family were giving me with no Internet access, it was worth it!
