Wireless printing via router

[link to this post]

I am trying to set up my printer (Canon MP620) so that I can print wirelessly via my router (Netgear DGN2000)

The router recognises the printer as it comes up on the list of attached devices along with my computer, but the computer cannot link to the printer.

Please can anyone advise how to proceed?
Thanks

Have you setup the printer on the PC?

Have tried to do that using the add a new printer option, but the printer is not found.

Does it work over USB?

Have you followed the setup procedures in the printed leaflets that came with the printer?

Setting up wireless printers typically requires the use of a temporary USB connection during the initial installation and configuration. This can sometimes be bypassed, but not always, and it is easier to just do it the way the manufacturer wants you too even in the cases where it can.

Ah - I thought I had, but a second look through the booklet shows that there are many more stages to go through - thanks for the poke in this direction.
I will have another stab at this tomorrow and return if I still have problems!

Many thanks to all
