Netgear WNR2000 & 2 Xboxes

[link to this post]

Hi Folks

Could do with some help here. I have two wired xboxes (Only me using them so one on at anytime only) I had my ports forwarded for number 2 xbox as I could not connect to Black Ops server until this was done. Number 1 xbox no issues until I use number 2 and then go back to number 1 same thing cant connect to the servers so I changed the settings on forwarding the ports to number 1. Worked okay. In other words I have to change my router settings depending on which box I am going to use.

My issue is I cannot find a way to have the ports forwarded for both boxes even though they have seperate static ip addresses ie number 1 is 192.168.1.20 and number 2 is 192.168.1.30 When I try to enter the details for the second box the router tells me these ports are already forwarded and cant duplicate this even though its a different ip address. Is there a way to forward the ports generally without using a specific ip address so that either box I use will connect to the servers as the router will allow traffic through the ports?

TIA Nutty

Hi, the problem I would think the router DHCP needs to setup as below

First DHCP Address:192.168.1.31

Last DHCP Address: 192.168.1.249

You then have 192.168.1.01 to 192.168.1.30 and 192.168.1.250 to 192.168.1.255 for static IP Addresses.

Hi, the OP states only one Xbox is used at anytime.
ie, (Only me using them so one on at anytime only)

I would save in Favorites the IP Address for each Xbox, then just click on the one required.

Xbox 360 IP Address 192.168.1.20 Number1

Xbox 360 IP address 192.168.1.30 Number2

Can create a shortcut on the desktop for each Xbox.

Still.. you can't forward the same ports to two destinations, ok the router will let you but as you can see it doesn't work

If you only ever use 1 XBox at a time, could you simply not give them both the same static IP, and forwards the ports??

Simples.

Folks,

Thanks for all the replies I have to be honest that I had forgotten about this post. The problem appears to be resolved with another reboot of the router and removing the static ip on the boxes so both are back to DHCP.

If the problem returns I will try the same ip for each box which is something I had not thought of as both will never be on at the sametime. I only use the spare one when the wife has friends round so I slip off with my stash of ice cold beers and frag to my hearts content smile

Thanks again
