Cat6 cable question

This might be a daft question but its bugging me and I can not find an answer.

I have just purchased a few Cat6 network cables from ebay and I have looked at the end of the RJ45 connector and all the pairs inside are straight and not staggered compared to my other Cat6 cable that I got a few months ago.

If you are unsure what I mean they have a look at this picture http://www.dnrdataconnection.com/productImages/223.jpg the load bar clearly shows the arrangement of the pairs being staggered.

I have made lots of Cat5 cables but never a Cat6 so not sure if it matters?

Can any one shed some light on this please.

Looks like the cable is using Cat5e connectors and not Cat6 ones, will this make any difference?

The cable is Cat6 not the connector ...

I have seen Cat5e cables with and without the cable guide and I have seen Cat6 with and without ...

What does it say on the cable sheath?

doesn't matter.. arguably the staggered improves performance. it's marginal.

Thanks for your reply, I know cable is Cat6 but there are RJ45 connectors that are sold for Cat6 hence my question.

On the cable it states Cat6 but I have been reading other forums and people state that if a standard RJ45 connector is used then it will not be a compliment Cat6 cable and will most likely not work as good either.

To be honest - total twaddle!

If you use a 24AWG Cat6 it will fit nicely into a standard RJ45, if you go to 22AWG then you will need the staggered connectors as the pitch of the individual conductors will be greater than the connector can cope with and hence the need to stagger and the little adapter to align the conductors.

CablesToGo make some of the best mass market Cat6 cables, have a look at one of theirs and you will see they are NOT staggered.

+1 cables to go are very well made cables indeed. The only staggered ones I have seen were on Belkin Cat6 STP - the usual belkin (and others) UTP Cat6 vaiety has standard type plug.
