Openreach Modem?Router connections

After reading a lot of posts over the internet I am now confused. I am running at the moment an Asus RT-N16 router which is connected to a D-Link DSL-320T modem via Ethernet cable. I have ordered BT Infinity. do I just connect the router WAN port to LAN 1 of the Openreach modem. In other words the VDSL modem replaced the ADSL Modem?

Thanks. the next thing is my current connection is the default DHCP but I am reading that I have to use PPPoE which means a login. Can't I just plug it in and it will work as it is now?

The username is [email protected] and the password is anything you like - abc, 123, anything.
