Does it let you turn off the USB 3 support in the bios? Worth a tryOr use a USB 2.0 port. I find that the USB 3.0 ports on my PC don't work that well.
P.S. The USB 3.0 controller will have it's own firmware/drivers. Updating the USB 2.0 firmware/drivers will not affect the USB 3.0 controller.
