Or use a USB 2.0 port. I find that the USB 3.0 ports on my PC don't work that well.

P.S. The USB 3.0 controller will have it's own firmware/drivers. Updating the USB 2.0 firmware/drivers will not affect the USB 3.0 controller.

If your wireless dongle is only USB 2 then it may not have tested or even designed to work well with USB 3

Early releases of faster devices/ports are riddled with compatability issues

A Wireless Ethernet Adapter might be a better idea, I hate USB for networking

So what is a wireless ethernet adapter, is that the same thing that micksharpe mentioned to me?.

A list of the devices, the TP-Link is probably enough for your needs, we reviewed the Asus EA-N66 recently, but its not cheap http://www.thinkbroadband.com/hardware/reviews/74-as... which may give a few more ideas.

I think i am going to go back to ethernet and lay the cable down, cant really beat it, don't have to worry about signal, don't have to worry about security with people nicking your bandwidth, and it seems much quicker and smoother than wireless.

If your wireless router is really a wireless N device then a wireless access point such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WA701ND-150Mbps-W... should work quite happily.

The wireless access points connect with a ethernet cable to the PC (and we know your ethernet works) and have the advantage that they can be sited for maximum signal strength.

You can also use the wireless access point that SKY do for their SKY+ HD boxes. The new wireless N one was £9.99 (no £21.99 or so) which was great value. All you need to do is to connect it to the SKY box, set up the wireless password and then disconnect it and connect it to the PC - the AP remembers the password!

Thanks for that, but i think i am just going to go back to using ethernet, never known my internet to be so quick like it has the last couple of days using ethernet.
