O2 new network Settings & Tomato Router

Hi,

I am having problems with the new O2 network settings. Basically I have a Netgear DG834g in modem mode + Tomato router connected to this modem. Normally for a long time I have had no issues but once O2 has changed recently its core network, my Tomato router has started to lose its IP Settings from DHCP.

However O2 Wireless Box seems to be working fine.

What am I doing wrong here? I have full confidence in my equipment and I can confirm that they work fine.

Is anyone having the same issues?

Have they changed the authentication method perhaps ? How does your setup compare to the Wireless Box in terms of WAN protocols / configuration.

They have just changed basic authentication methods, which I have followed to the letter.

I have the exact setup in another premises with O2 broadband again with no problems.

The IP address on Tomato rooter just expires after some time, as all IP addresses (even static) are allocated by O2's DHCP servers from now on.

However the O2 router has no problems.

I am thinking to do following can you please advise what should be the course of action:

1) Disable DHCP on O2's router. (O2's address is 192.168.1.254)

2) Disable all firewall on O2's router

3) Enable DHCP on Tomato router for internal computers. (Tomato address is 192.168.1.253)

4) Plug O2 to WAN port of Tomato, set the WAN port to DHCP so it gets the WAN details from O2 router

5) Use port forwarding, QoS etc as before on Tomato

Would this config. work?

You may as well set up the WAN manually on the Tomato router with 192.168.1.254 as its default gateway etc
