Sounds like the card is running in g instead of n if you are expecting it to be faster than it is
First thing I would do is update to the latest drivers (I think the link you need is:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/ralink.htm)
Then ensure it is set up to run at n speeds (assuming your router can do this too)
Personally I do not think you will see a great deal of difference in day to day use if you upgrade but having a card that is faster than your internet connection has advantages on your home network too
