Using wifi Router as an extender?

I have been on TalkTalk since they introduced ADSL, and, unlike many, haven't had any problems (except I would like fibre but BT have said no way).

Anyway many years ago I replaced the single port TT box with a Netgear GT834N router, which works fine, except that in my lounge there is very bad wireless signal,

Last week TT contacted me and said my router is out of date (they still think I am using their original device), and offered to send me a new Huawei HG533, which I accepted on the basis that at least ther will be a spare.

Anyway can I connect them wirelessly, so that one of them acts to allow a wireless signal in the lounge?

Sorry not very capable when it comes to understanding network hardware.

You need a cable between them both but then it's quite easy

Have you tried the new router it may have better signal

On the new router change the wireless to 20mhz from 40mhz
& try channels 11 then 6 then 1
Chances are you will get SOME reception.

The dg834 has terrible wireless. It used to penetrate half of my house. My sky hub managed the whole house and some outdoors!
