Glad you are now on the right track smile

Sorry about giving you the wrong advice earlier, i.e. blue/white and white/blue wires to terminals 2 and 5, but initially I thought we were dealing with a ADSL-FFP85D - Solwise ADSL Filtered BT/RJ11 Faceplate.

BTW. do you actually need to connect a phone to that extension, in other words are you thinking of using it as a dedicated adsl socket only?

Can I add one suggestion.

Blue & Blue/White and Orange & Orange/White are normally used for basic telephony and voice.

If your cable is 3 pair/6 wire, consider using the Green & Green/White for the Data - side. It might just save some confusion later on.

Yes I use the phone extension also, its a lot nearer to an electric socket. I have everything connected as advised and it seems to be working fine. Thanks to this site it has saved me a broken window because that's where it would have finished

My cable is 2 pair Blue & Blue/White - Orange & Orange/White. Trouble is I am coloured blind so that Orange could be Green. Thanks anyway.

Hopefully broadband performance will be as good from the extension as it would be from the NTE5 test socket now smile

I use the ADSLnation telephone/ADSL filtered extention socket http://www.adslnation.com/products/xtf.php

Wiring instructions http://www.adslnation.com/support/extensions.php

Slowise wiring instructions http://www.solwise.co.uk/downloads/files/ffpsplitter...

I find the instructions for telephone extension wiring from the three websites I posted explain well how to carry out home telephone extension wiring installations.

Wiring from BT supplied NTE5 master socket
Line signal B 48v DC - (J2) Blue with White Bands
(J3) Orange / with White Bands - Not used do not connect wire
(J4) White / with Orange Bands - Not used do not connect wire
Line signal A 0v DC - (J5) White / with Blue Bands

Hi again, Just wondering about what you said with the phone, will it make a difference if I move that phone from the socket. Done everything right with wiring the extension but now people complaining to my wife they cannot hear her too well. The engineer was out last Saturday saying the connections on the pole were corrupted so got them cleaned he then did another test to say working perfect but would take 10-14 days training period. Am I being impatient or should it be ok by now. BTW my internet is still dropping on my LG television and my You View box with a HH3. Wireless working fine on my computer upstairs. Thanks again.

If the phone and the broadband are OK both in the NTE5 test socket (via a dangle filter) and on your new extension socket using a corded phone and an ethernet cable to a computer, at both locations, then your house wiring should be fine smile

Regarding the filtered voice connection to the extension socket: I was just wondering whether you actually needed a phone there, but it appears that you do since the dual socket is now more conveniently located near an electric socket.

See how it goes with the "training period" and if there are still problems after 10 days or so perhaps you can post your router stats and also do a quiet line test with a corded phone from the test socket.
