Billion 7700n router constantly dropping line

I have a Billion 7700n router. I am located in the sticks so a long line to the exchange.

In the last few months the connection has been having regular dropouts, but the router still shows the internet being connected. I am not sure if this is down to line conditions or whether there is some problem with the router.

I am enclosing a copy of the stats - hopefully I have the correct page.

Any advice would be welcome.

Your SNR Margins and 10.9dB downstream and 13.0dB upstream. Ideally these should be 6.0dB or thereabouts. There might be scope for having that investigated by your ISP (not mentioned in your post).

I believe, but you should check with your ISP, that the second character of "1" indicates 'fast path', which is inclined to be more error-prone. You should ask if interleaving is on/off on your line, and you really should get it enabled.

Your ping speeds might suffer slightly, but your line errors should reduce with interleaving on.

The ISP is Xilo.

I think that this is a Broadcom chipset so should be adjustable from here? Though I have forgotten the procedure.

I have been watching the downstream SNR and it is constantly changing - see below. Also goes up to 116.

Probably due to the long line and the noise on it fluctuating. As far as I know interleaving on/off is an ISP request thing, or at least it is with Plusnet.

No, the 2nd no, 1, is the interleaving depth on upstream, but when we talk of Fast Path or not we are referring to downstream, on which the interleaving depth is 32, i.e. not Fast Path.

On BTw platforms, incl. PN, it's the DLM that decides Fast Path or not. The ISP does not have much control of it, tho' it can set it initially but DLM will then take over.

Incidentally this line runs on the TT network via Xilo, so the DLM is not as rigorous as others.
