Ethernet networking in a shared building

Hi there

I'm looking for some advice as to whether ethernet run through electrical plugs will support fibre optic broadband. I live in a shared house and we are upgrading our broadband which currently runs through 5 flats via a Devolo, dLAN Highspeed Ethernet II system.

Could anyone please advise?

Define "fibre optic broadband". Is this FTTC or FTTP? What "speed" package are you buying?

Thanks for your response. I don't know whether it's FFTC or FTTP - is one better than the other? We are going for the fastest Zen package, with speeds up to 69mbps.

Sounds like FTTC. The only reason for asking is that FTTP packages can run much faster (but are only available to the select few) and so homeplugs wouldn't be able to keep up with the speeds.

For FTTC it should be possible for homeplugs to keep up as long as you don't lose too much speed through electrical wiring.
