Powerline recommendations

Hi

I am looking to buy a couple of powerline adapters to get Ethernet into a room that can't easily be accessed with Ethernet cable, and gets poor wifi from the router.

My main consideration is reliability. One reads many reviews by disgruntled customers saying that theirs drop out frequently, or overheat.

So primary requirements -
Reliable
>= 100Mb

Nice to haves, in order -
- gigabit (router is gigabit and I do quite a bit of file moving and copying within the LAN)
- multiple ports at one end
- extends wifi
- mains passthrough

.. but I don't want any of the nice to haves if they don't work reliably!

Any recommendations gratefully received

The TP Link devices are pretty good. I've had no problems with them.

I have a pair of TP-Link 1200Mb powerlines, they connect to each other at between 950 - 1200mbps depending on time of day... they are on same ring though...

They seem to work well anyway, I also use a few cheaper 500Mb ones with these and they also sync quiet well.. 300-450mbps..

I've given up with PLE. No matter what ones I use in my house, they all drop out in the same fashion requiring a power cycle.

I'm thinking it is something to do with the electrics but have not really devoted enough time to find out why.

Ended up going for some good wireless kit and creating a mesh-like network in the house which solves the problem that the PLE were bought for.

I have used:

Devolo 85Mb - Rock solid, even over 2 different ring mains.
Netgear 200Mb - Rock solid, even over 2 different ring mains.
Devolo 500Mb - older model overheats, drops out, speed gets progressively slower
Netgear 500Mb - Generally OK, occasional dropouts over different ring mains

I am currently using the Netgear 200Mb, these are the ones I keep coming back to after trying 'better' models. I value reliability over speed.

I agree. The same thing happens with the Devolo 650 ones. I have to reset the one in my study about 2 times per week due to overheating
