Thanks for trying , much appreciated

Bob

Can you post the entire contents of

ipconfig /all

Also, please turn IPv6 back on in Windows in the network stack, it isn't really designed to be switched off.

Also, check that you don't have a proxy server specified.

Finally, try with a different web browser just to see if it is a browser-specific issue.

Ipv6 turned on, no proxy server & same issue with Edge,Chrome & Firefox.
Result of ipconfig/all :-

Win IP Config
Host name:Bob-PC
Primary DNS Suffix:
IP Routing Enabled:No
Wins proxy enabled: No
DNS Suffix Search List:home

Ethernet adaptor Ethernet 2

Media State: Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description: Tap-Windows Adapter V9
Physical address: 00-FF etc etc
DHCP enabled: Yes
Autoconfig enabled: Yes

Ethernet adapter Ethernet 3:

Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

Media State : Media disconnected
ConnectionConnection-specific DNs suffix:
Description : VPN Client Adapter - New
Physical address : 00-AC-10 etc etc

This took some copy typing so if anything unclear or any queries please let me know.
Any ideas of cause or problem?

Media State: Media disconnected

That doesn't look right. It's saying that the Ethernet cable is not connected.

Also NetBIOS over Tcpip should be disabled these days.

Most of the time when these sorts of issues arise, I normally advise to re-install the network driver as this can often reset to the default driver settings and then sort out any issues (if it's software related).

I'm guessing disconnected may have been a typo for Ethernet 3 as if it was disconnected then as it is using DHCP it shouldn't show an IP address. NetBIOS shouldn't cause the issues being seen and is probably on by default for pretty much all implementations.

OP: Have you tried setting the DNS servers to your ISPs default just to rule out any possible network issues with the ISP using OpenDNS?

PS : We seem to be having the same conversation in 2 threads. Any reason why this is split across 2 as it means the same things are being posted in 2 places for what appear to be the same potential root cause?
