B525 should i put it in bridge mode?

[link to this post]

I have a Huawei B525 with EE sim as a test to replace my adsl line. It is connected to a TPLINK DECO P9 setup. My default the DECO was in Router mode - so it provided DHCP etc. As the Huawei router was already doing that , I disabled it on the DECO an put that into Access point mode.

This has proved to be unreliable with devices losing connection to wifi and not reconnecting etc. So I have put DECO back into Router mode. At this stage should I put the Huawei into Bridge mode? I don't understand whether I need to or not (i.e. two devices having DHCP server function?

Basic question I am sure but would appreciate some assistance!

Double NAT for most people is not going to cause an issue

The IP address over the mobile network may already be CGNAT anyway.

If bridge works easily then give it a whirl, but if its a pain or unreliable then running both in NAT mode is ok.

Hi, thanks for the info. I did try it but proved unreliable so have reverted as follows but I now have my original problem :-

So Huawei B525 in normal router mode. Deco P9 mesh wifi in access point mode so Huawei is allocatting IP address etc. I have a problem where, for example, if I move around with my android phone, it loses connection with the deco wifi, tried to reconnect and the hangs on Obtaining IP address - only way to resolve seems to be to forget the network on android phone and then eventually it sorts itself.....

I suspect that its because I am moving between Deco access points (there are 3_..../

Any ideas what could be causing that?

DHCP lease times.

Can you set a static IP for that device e.g. in some routers you can reserve an ip address for a specific device, or in the wireless settings on the phone specify the IP settings for the connection under that SSID
