Extension socket with built-in ADSL filter socket

[link to this post]

I have one of these master socket faceplates with a built-in ADSL filter.

Can I get one to use on an extension socket?

This? But no reviews and I'd rather have a recommendation from here.

Why do you need it filtered?

Just take two pairs, filtered and non-filtered to the second location. You have Cat5e so four pair available.

I don't really but I may want to plug a phone in occasionally. What I'd like to do is plug a modem/router into the wall socket, directly without a dangly filter. I can't use the phone socket as its the wrong type so I thought a faceplate with a filter would be the best way.

Clever... Where's my filter? To be honest I've currently removed the master socket filtered faceplate and am using the standard OR plate (no phone connected). I'll have to dig it out and see if it has a method of 'extending' the filtered output. And then I'll need a double socket extension faceplate.

Just make a faceplate from two Euro modules - RJ11/12/45 (your choice) and BT socket. The filter is back at the master and everything separated there.

Two Euro modules. Brilliant! But I don't see the filter. I use the current pair for the modem port, where at the master am I connecting the second pair for the phone line? My "mark 4" filtered faceplate does have an "A" and "B" connector on its rear. I assumed that was the same as the OR connection for the incoming exchange line. If I ever had instructions for this filter plate I've lost them...

Have the filter at the master. Then connect the "blue pair" to 2 & 5 which are filtered and they feed the voice socket. Then connect the "brown or green pair" to A&B on the face plate (which are effectively the incoming) and take those to the data socket (RJnn).

Great, thanks for the advice. I'll get a couple of Euros and try that.

If you cannot get an RJ11/12 (6-way) then use an RJ45 as it will take the smaller plug.

They exist, but they don't. Out of stock. Didn't I just see an article somewhere saying don't put an RJ11/12 plug into and RJ45 socket as it will do damage?

Plenty around at more sensible prices!

https://www.euronetwork.co.uk/white-telephone-rj11-e... for example.

The RG series was designed, as far as I remember, to allow smaller ones to be inserted. And if you look closely at an RJ11/12 the difference in height between pin and case is less than 0.5mm. And anyway - you would not be using 1 & 8

Or just get an RJ45 to RJ11 cable!
