: Huawei B525 & Printer

[re: Pheasant] [link to this post]

Ok I have updated the Canon IP to read 192.168.8.153 which is within the router IP range (192.168.8.***
LCD confirms it recognises the router ok but Printer is not on the Network

Even using the WPS button fails to connect

Also tried Printer Properties/Ports,
New Port with 192.168.8.153
Fails to connect

------------------------------------
Looking at this page
http://bures.org.uk/dhcp/huawei.htm

Can I update the top box to 192.168.1.153 (the factory Canon IP)
I have 4 other pieces of hardware (TV, Laptops etc) connected, will updating this IP still retain all my other devices
If they became unuseable it could cause a divorce

On the Huawei ‘DHCP’ setup page, enter a new static IP address entry for the printer. Make it 192.168.8.153. Enter the MAC address of the printer (find that on your printer, usually a sticker somewhere) and then click ‘Apply’

On the printer itself, go into the network setup. Attach the printer to the SSID, password etc that the Huawei is broadcasting. On the printer leave the network as DHCP assigned and it should *always* be given the same IP address, 192.168.8.153 by the Huawei and the correct netmask and gateway to reach the Huawei.

Just make sure the printer actually *is* successfully connecting to the Huawei’s WiFi network. Can stress enough that it all hinges on this.

Printer is not on the Network

How are you testing this?

Try a web browser and go to https://192.168.8.153

If you are using Windows, you won't see the printer appear in the 'Network' icon.

Just about to throw in the towel

Canon : Reset all IP addresses
Canon now searches the Network for Routers and finds the Huawei
Insert PW and relevant IP (198.162.8.153) Sub mask and Default IP - displays registered on Huawei Router,
Canon CP "Wi-fi" now illuminated
Looks Good
Huawei B525 - insert same IP address in dhcp - returns accepted
There is a mention of having "Wi-Fi Isolation" box enabled/disabled but I cant find this option on the B525

However the Canon is nowhere to be found on the Network using various IP Scanners (Ipconfig/netstat etc)
Firefox doesnt find nor anything else
So is the Canon is talking to the router ?

There is no Wi-Fi problem with the Canon as its works 100% with my EE Router

The canon won't show on ipconfig ever (as that shows the computer's IP information) and not on netstat until you actually print.

At the command prompt on your computer can you try
ping 192.168.8.153

and see if you get any responses?

The printer should have a diagnostics option that will print a page with the ip address that it is connected to.

Potentially the Huawei device is set by the operator (is that Three?) to not work in the same way as a normal home router and let two devices talk to each other. You should be able to ping a Canon printer, I have a Pixma which it connected by Ethernet to my ASUS router, and I can ping it from my laptop or desktop.

Now Working after this:
Reset all IP settings to factory on Canon
Disconnected EE router so it was invisible to Canon searching network
Located Huawei on network, inserted IP 192.168.8.153
_-------------------------
Canon Port
deleted WSD port and reinstalled
also added New port congured to 192.168.8.153
-----------------------

Huawei Router factory Reset to search for Canon
DCHP:- Inserted 192.158.8.153 and Mac number

At last after many hours the printer is in action
Both the New Printer Port and the WSD port now working

Thanks to all those who were very patient with me in resolving this problem
