Fritz Box 7530 - Modem/Bridge Mode

[link to this post]

Hi (Novice question incoming)

I'm about to receive my Fritz 7530 AX router from ZEN (had enough of Virgin constant disconnects).

My current set-up is the VHUB is in Modem mode - connected to my EDGE X router - and two Unifi AP's connected.

Is it possible to put the FRITZ box into Modem/Bridge mode and simply reconnect my EDGE router so not to change my set-up.

If not possible could someone suggest a work around that includes possibly using my AP's ?

Well you could just use the APs with the Fritzbox if you have the PoE injectors.

ERX can use its ports as individual routed interfaces or as switch port or a mixture so you have some flexibility if you want to keep it in the setup.

As for a bridge mode I am not sure, as for ADSL/VDSL circuits I would normally have paired EdgeRouters or pfSense routers with a Vigor modem rather than another full featured router operating in a mode that deactivates many of its features..

I have an ERX behind a Fritzbox but its main role is as a demarcation between home networks on the Fritz and office networks on the ERX. including VPN termination (incoming and site-to-site, both Wireguard and IPSec).

prlzx on Zen: FTTC (VDSL) at ~40Mbps / 10Mbps
with IP4/6 (no v6? - not true Internet)

Hi "Prizx" thanks for your response, nice to know I have options. I think for now I might just use the AP's (they are PoE), would I need to disable Wireless on the Fritz box to achieve this.
