Anyone care to make a recommendation for one or the other based on a Talk Talk LLU SMPF line? Speeds, customer service, billing, etc?

Hmmm looking at the Aquiss site seems TT reselling isnt an option. Yet according to this post it is. http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/otherisp/t/4052179-...

Re Vivaciti, generally had good responses to tickets. Had a billing issue that was sorted without any fuss recently.
I did have a delay (Getting an IP block) a while back which was sorted within the hour when the MD (Karl I think) happened to answer the phone. An advantage of being with a smaller ISP
Have no experience with Aquiss.
Another to consider would be Xilo who also have a good rep on here. Had some dealings with Xilo Matt recently who came across as very approachable and helpful.

Out of interest, how have you come to that conclusion?
Our Family Value range is TT based. http://www.aquiss.net/broadband-family-value.php

I put my telephone number in and it came up with 5mb as Max speed, so I assumed it wasn't available at my exchange (NEWN).

Our results are starting to factor in new rules that will become into force from April 2012. Our site is being adjusted bit by bit.
As feared (and we have already raised concerns), because we have to explain what customers in your area are getting, it only takes 1 bad result to mess up results, especially for smaller providers who don't have customerbases for bigger samples to be worked out.
If you can PM your line stats, I will be able to give you a better idea.

I put in the # of my current 19 Meg ADSL2+ line and your site gave me "Estimated Speed 6.5 Mbps" . This was the same as the estimated ADSL Max speed in your copy of the BT Availability estimate and well below its dubious 13 Meg ADSL2+ estimate.
Yet TT LLU is available at my exchange, THTT. Why only proffer an ADSL Max speed? Isn't that the way to turn away prospects? Or is your website faulty?

I've just entered my phone number again on Aquiss' site and seen at the bottom that it says:
Your Available Broadband Ranges
Family Packages - Currently available in your area
Gaming Packages - Currently available in your area
Business Packages - Currently available in your area
Family Value Packages - Currently NOT available in your area
Clicking on 'Family Packages' lists the packages with a downstream line sync of 'Up to 24 MB' for each one, so these must be LLU packages or they'd only say 'Up to 8 MB'.

And just seen this in the small print:
"If your exchange is yet to be enabled with ADSL2+ technology, we will enable your line up to 8Mbps via ADSL technology and upgrade the line as soon as upgrades are completed at your telephone exchange."

|

Probably (and most likely) refers to their BT-based services.
TTB do not have any ADSL1 only exchanges (on LLU).

Martin, please could you tell me about your 'Elevated Best Efforts' option on your packages for an extra £7.20 a month?
Does it really ensure BT maintain a higher network quality on a line?
Thanks
Paul

But!
What makes you think LLU is required for "up to 24Mbps"? If your exchange is BT Wholesale WBC enabled, ask samknows, then you have non-LLU "up to 24Mbps" speeds available. I assume the Aquiss checker checks that.
The "Family Packages" are (I believe) Entanet based, which uses WBC.
Though if your exchange is not WBC-enabled, you have picked up an error in the Aquiss checker unless it also told you that you wouldn't get above 8Mbps on those packages because of that. Clicking on them on the website will of course show the 24 maximum.
(Edit - typed while the intervening posts were being done. Still a useful link to samknows though).

I forgot about WBC allowing speeds of up to 24 MB - was just thinking about LLU.

What did it give as your Estimated Speed? It said the same for me but estimated sub-8 Meg on a 19 Meg line connected to a WBC & TT LLU'd exchange. As I emphasised earlier!

Paul,
Just call up vivaciti on the land line that you intend to use for SMPF (or MPF?) tomorrow and they will tell you whats what...
|
|
|
Do you not mean contact Aquiss, 4M2?
I have a Vivaciti package already in mind - the 100GB/month Variety package at £19.80/month.
I'll put a message up on Aquiss's pre-sales forum tomorrow and see what they say.
GPRS on mobile phone to PC > 3G on mobile phone to PC> Wanadoo 1MB @ 20GB/month > Zen Internet 3MB @ 50GB/month

Paul,
Yes I did mean vivaciti - I called them up several weeks ago to check for certain that TTB SMPF was available on my line and it was OK. However I didn't need 100GB per month and they couldn't offer me a lower price deal with a smaller allowance so that idea is on hold for a while. Also my preference would be for BE partial LLU, rather than TTB partial LLU, if and when it becomes available possibly with xilo/uno.
Best of luck with your Aquiss enquiries

(Although I said we only did MPF on TTB exchanges, this has changed).
If you put your number in now, Pro 24 should be returned if you are on a TTB only exchange and this product is SMPF.
If not, please get in touch and we'll investigate further.

If you can contact us via the site form, we'll get the number checked.
Most exchanges are working fine but there are some odd ones that give a slightly different response from the data TTB provide on the check.
