Hello, I am newly registered on this board (after receiving the Coms letter).
My letter stats my "Fiber 30 allowance has increased from 30gb to 500GB"
Does anyone know if this is the total allowance for all 30 days of the month or do I still have unlimited download during off-peak hours?
|
|
|
Its still unlimited at offpeak times

Hi,
I received the same letter today from Coms, giving me the increase from February 1st. I am on CPW LLU at my exchange and my log-in details will remain the same. The letter also states I should be moved over between Jan 22nd and Feb14th. I ran a tracert today and hops are still on Murphx network or so it says.

Excellent, they should have made this clearer on the letter (or did I miss something?)
Bob what old adsl24 service are you on?
At the moment, this looks like a good deal because Coms Fibre 500 is £49.00 monthly, considerably more than I was paying for the old Fibre30 service.

They did on my letter
I was on Broadband 50 with adsl24 which was Talk Talk at the exchange but going over the adsl24 network. Moved over today successfully so far

Hi David
Welcome to Coms and the forum.
Bob is spot on, the usage increase is for your peak usage. Off peak is 8pm to 8am and all weekend.

So tell me PaulComs, are our current allowances and prices permanent or are they intended to change in a month or two?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's a bit concerned that what I see is a sweetener to get us to stay and at some stage we'll be told we have to pay the same as everyone else on the service.

I did think this but with a 1 month contract its easy to leave if anything changes
|
|
|
Hm, that assumes of course that it stays as a one month contract

|

I don't thibk they can change that without you approving it. And if you don't you can leave at no cost

Thank you Paul, this is good news.
AND please don't mess with the excellent and knowledgeable adsl24 support staff!
Thanks

Evening Gents,
Pricing and packages will remain the same for as long as you remain on your current product.
We mapped the ADSL24 products to the appropriate level of Coms based product but we didn't increase the price. Its a competitive market and the 30 day contract term means that we have a duty of care to keep your services the same as you had or better. As Bob stated the choice is yours in terms of provider.
Thanks for the questions, keep them coming.
Paul

While it's good to hear prices won't be going up for existing customers I can't help but wonder how Coms can hope to attract new customers with prices that are pretty much double what many competitors charge, for Fibre products at least.

Hi Andy
Yes it is a challenge for the smaller ISPs to compete with the giants on FTTC. It comes down to economies of scale. At the moment we don't have a multi-million pound budget to fund marketing promoting our products or subsidise costs and fees at the same level as the top 5. But you never know
The current FTTC products are aimed at the business market and are in the same ball park as many of our competitors offering business FTTC products .
Thanks,
Paul

That's a fair answer, I guess it just goes to show how good a job ADSL24 were doing to offer the packages they did. All the best with the new company.

Or the fact they had to sell out to So Purple and they too sold it might be because their business model was wrong. Costs too high, subscription income too low.
