As the " What could possibly go wrong" thread has become convoluted, this one is dedicated to the widely reported 3 day session, where LCP goes down and immediately comes up again, causing a break in the connection for approx. 20 seconds.
Is everyone on Coms seeing this?
Todays occurrence was at 17:24:35 here.
Would a Coms representative care to comment?

I messaged Dan about it. This is his reply
Hi,
Just heard back from them, they have advised that they are currently investigating what is required and how soon they can implement the change.
As soon as I receive anything further, I will let you know.
Kind regards
Dan

Hi,
I dont think this is general, or at least I am not having this problem. Not before or since being moved to Coms.

You checked your logs? You may have just missed it seeing as its not down for long
I had the same, also been seeing the previous 3 day pattern.
I too have a drop in speed as others have said and also I just had loss of service totally for the past hour or so.
Hope they get it sorted out soon.

In addition to any end-user modem logs, it should also be listed in the Coms MyAccount Connection Log.
Yes, have checked event logs in my router and in myaccount on Coms. Nothing showing, nor has there been since reading about others 3 day problem on here last week. Hence my comment that its not affecting everyone.

Do you know if you're on TTB at the exchange?
Yes, moved over to their LLU early 2012, when James offered the new packages. I wonder if its the ex C&W users who have the problem, or are you on cpw too?
No im same as you never been on C&W just moved to their LLU. DanComs reported it to TTB who are looking into it so must be to do with them somewhere along the line

Strange, perhaps its something affecting new users? Does seem odd.

Who knows, did you have the 20 minute outage other day around 5.10?
Funnily enough, almost 2 minutes, 15.25 to 15.27 on the 10th. Just checked but not at 5 ish. But thinking about it, this when they fixed my phone. I`d had a constant engaged tone for a couple of days

Reason i ask is the downtime at 5 was due to TTB. Seeing as you arent having the 3 day session issue wondered if you also avoided the other issue on the 10th
Well it may have but its not showing in log, I was out at the time. However the fault with my line (engaged tone) was down to something that occurred thursday night when Coms (or so support said) reset systems at midnight. No loss of broadband but discovered faulty phone when a mate rang my mobile and told me my landline was not accepting incoming calls the next day.

Still dropping after 72 hours.

Fix is due to happen tomorrow. We shall see

Yes, my connection keeps dropping for a few minutes too, maybe an unrelated problem as its now a Month since opening my ticket and they don't even bother replying any more, they just close the ticket, so I open a new one.
Problem this causes me is that each time the connection drops all my home network IP addresses keep changing which means I have to re-set up all my wifi bridges around the house. Ok, I could give them static IP's without DHCP, but I shouldn't have to really.
This is the sort of thing I get, sometimes Daily, sometimes every 2nd or third day:

22014-02-18 17:05:03PPPErrorppp0 LCP down

These are the speed tests I've got over the last 24 hours..... surely something is wrong with fluctuations like this, but they just wont accept theres a problem:

Did the fix happen?
For me at least, my connection has been down most of today. Odd thing is, my router shows as connected but Windows 7 network status shows "no internet" and I couldn't access web pages on PC or wireless devices.
Up and running now with healthy speeds.
Coms have still not replied to my ticket in 3 days!

RS2000 - you've possibly been suffering from the DNS issue that a few of us have encountered today - assuming that you're using coms dns. So your router will have been connected, but with dns not working you'll not have been able to get to web pages - so win7 status was also correct!
There's another thread about it.

According to Dan yes the fix went in place last thing Weds. So we shall see

109.224.191.36
109.224.191.37
Are those the coms dns?

Yes

Thank you for this - Hopefully that was the case. Connection has been solid for over 18 hours now.
Still no response to the ticket I opened on Monday though - poor show.

Looks like this has been fixed! My connection time is 3 days, 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Have coms got something right at last?
Yea im waiting on mine, find out tomorrow morning. I suspect you either had to reboot your router or establish a new connection after the fix was in place for it to work.
Same here. My last connection lasted beyond 72 hours.
But ping time has markedly increased.
