I suspect it's to do with the property rights required for easements (the rights for access over private land): as they are normally exempt from the competition legislation that relates to goods and services. Hence why the only hope is duct sharing for which there's no legal obligation yet; apart from if the estate roads have been adopted following construction the ability of code operators and other utility undertakers to put infrastructure in the highway (relied on for many mobile phone masts). Are new installations ducted rather than the just lay cables in the ground as the traditional lowest cost option anyway?

The trouble there is the ROI/capital cost which is why there are effectively no new landline networks (other than those originally put in on new development) since the original cable installations (which nearly bankrupted the operators); and even BT as many of us know to our cost won't replace as an alternative to making hundreds of repair joints on clapped out existing underground local loops, even when renewal must be the cheaper option.

I understand that once the phases are completed the council will be adopting the roads. I'm not sure the infastructure of the phone lines (not a techy). The instalation engineer who installed my ONT said that Inexus (the parent company of STL and independent fibre networks) are a very new business and were in talks with Virgin media to come to some sort of deal to use their platform, but at present virgin are not interested.
I Can't get cable tv as it stands. I could get sky as I have a Gateway Terminal Unit in the property (basically it comes through the fibre along with digital terrestrial) we are not allowed to put up dishes at all comes from one LNB and splits down across the properties. Sky would not be worth my while at the moment as I would only be able to take standalone TV as they would not be able to offer me phone line and boradband.
Out of interest are there any options for TV that anyone is aware of down the phone line ??

Would it be inreasonable to complain ?

how does the "lock out" work ? do the deeds of the homes prohibit installation of alternative services or something.

My understanding is that builders of developments don't build Openreach or Virgin networks so their development is only served by their preferred supplier. So those moving in are only able to buy the preferred supplier.

If the development is adopted other operators may build, subject to the 'no dig' period written in to the adoption. If the development is not adopted other operators will be unable to build.

I'm trying to understand why the BT USO falls over in this case.....

Basically, the street and roads around such developments are private land and the owners (developer/landlord) may not allow alternative operators to install equipment or plant (poles/ducts/cabinets etc). Unles the streets/roads are adopted by the local authourity then other telco's with code powers cannot install landline services

Follow up to my post on the 1st Feb.
Finally contacted on the 2nd February and asked to supply four example traces which i did straight away.
Received reply from 2nd line on the 3rd saying that they couldn't reproduce the delay in their lab and that an engineer was being sent to site on the 7th to check from the local exchange - and depending on the tests - from my residence.
No contact made at all from customer support. Chased again on the 9th.
Finally got an email saying:-
Apologies in the delay in fixing this issue however a solution has now been found. If you could re-test the round trip delay on your service and feedback if you still have a problem it would be appreciated.

Checked and I now have a very good latency to most sites.

Only took 6 weeks to get this sorted.

Hey... I know this post is old but it was the only thing I could find regarding seethelight. Just wondering if there's been any change with the internet service provided by seethelight since we are in 2015? We are moving to Little Stanion and unfortunately the only providers we have are seethelight and directSave telecoms. Any update will be great thanks
